Members of the Ghana Journalists Association- GIJ chapter on saturday April 26, 2010 undertook a trip to Nzulenzu- the village on the silt. The trip which was a collaborative effort between the GJA, Osagyefo Halll and Mandela Hall was aimed at exposing student journalists to the enormous tourist sites in the country. Some students who spoke to gjagij.com expressed their amazement at the denizens of Nzulenzu and generally described the trip as not only educative but adventurous as well. The educatees upon their arrival at the bank of the river, boarded small canoes which commuted them to the Nzulenzu village. At Nzulenzu, students were welcomed and introduced to the Prince of the town who took them around to purview the beautiful sites. Few hours later students were briefed on the history of the town and how the indigenes settled on the silt some years ago. According to the prince of the town, their ancestors took root at Nzulenzu after a failed war in Mali. After almost three to four hours on the silt, the students returned to beyin where they had a little fun before journeying back to Accra. As if the fun at Nzulenzu was not enough, en route Accra the bus made stop overs at sekondi-takoradi and cape coast for some 'shopping spree'. A variety of foodstuffs like; 'fante dokonu, nkyenam, etew and nam' were purchased at the various stop overs. The school bus finally arrived on campus few minutes to 9pm sunday evening after which the students departed to their respected homes.
